A special cup of Coffee

Mauna Lani

Who we are

Mauna Lani (Heavenly Mountain) Coffee Farm is a small family owned farm.  The farm is nestled on the southern slopes of Mauna Loa (Long Mountain) Volcano, in the picturesque, fertile, Naalehu Valley, of the Ka’u District, on the Big Island, Hawai’i.  The Naalehu Valley and its surrounding land tracts were owned and farmed for centuries by Brewer Company, one of the largest Sugar Companies in Hawaii, whose sugar was sold under the label of C&H Sugar.  The farm’s elevation, 1,200 ft – 1,600 ft, is perfect for growing premium coffee.  The cooler subtropical climate and at that elevation, enables the coffee bean to mature slowly, which in turn allows the bean to develop greater depth of flavor.

For many years, Ka’u Coffee was the “other” coffee growing region on the Big Island, while Kona being its famous neighbor and taking the lion’s share of Big Island’s and the state’s coffee growing recognition. Over the last decade the Ka’u Coffee District has been gaining greater recognition as the premium coffee growing area of the Big Island and state wide.  Coffee grown in Ka’u Coffee District has repeatedly won gold and silver medals in cupping competitions rivaling Kona and the other Hawaiian state’s coffee growing districts. Many coffee judging officials praise Ka’u coffee and regard Ka’u coffee as the best coffee district on the Big Island and in the state.
